Abhaya Wellness defines psychotherapy as a professional relationship that provides a safe non-judgmental space for individuals to explore barriers to living a more complete and full life. We believe that a strong therapeutic alliance is critical and building mutual trust is foundational to our approach.

We believe all individuals are unique and that there are many paths to wellness that we can walk with you; our eclectic team of clinicians are all unique in their training, experience, and specialties.

We do, however, encourage integration of experiential practices into the therapeutic relationship. Your clinical team will help you identify ways that you can incorporate mindfulness, movement, art, music, etc. into your path to wellness.

Individual Psychotherapy

  • Mindfulness-based psychotherapy integrates mindfulness and present moment-based practices into the therapeutic relationship.
  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) focuses on helping patients identify and change negative patterns of thoughts and behaviors.
  • Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is primarily used to help individuals with problems related to emotion regulation and impulse control.
  • Trauma-focused therapy (TFT) helps individuals process traumatic experiences and learn coping mechanisms to reduce their symptoms.
  • Psychoanalytic and psychodynamic therapies focus on exploring patients’ unconscious thoughts and feelings and how these might be impacting their behavior.
  • Humanistic therapies, such as person-centered therapy, which focus on promoting self-understanding, self-acceptance, and self-compassion.
