MSW, LCSWA
Therapist

Jodi Marshall holds a Master of Science Degree in Education from Boston University, an MSW from Columbia University, and a Psychoanalytic Training Certification from New York Counseling and Guidance Service. Jodi is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA) and seasoned psychotherapist who specializes in DBT therapy and hones in on the qualities of a holistic mindfulness clinical practitioner.
Jodi’s training, knowledge and clinical background works well with those who are struggling with all the complexities of life; whether that’s struggling with more subtle situations where the old ways of doing life are simply no longer working, or struggling more acutely with issues such as addiction, depression, anxiety, or interpersonal relationships— Jodi will create a safe space for you to work through your struggles together.
Jodi especially enjoys being able to provide her client the opportunity where they can attune to and improve their self-awareness as she believes the more we understand our feelings, the stronger our ability becomes to face both old and new challenges. Your autonomy is most important to her— Jodi believes that her role as a therapist is to gently help you to better understand yourself, accept difficult feelings, behaviors, and to figure out where you are, where you want to go, and how to get there. Whether that’s done through setting goals for growth, identifying roadblocks, learning new skills, or developing strategies to manage change, new insight will always be gained.
Jodi certainly wishes she could say she always knew she wanted to be a therapist, that simply wasn’t the case! Regardless of the job or title, however, her passion and purpose has always been helping people. And after years of friends and family designating me
as an armchair therapist, I finally decided to get out of the armchair and into the business of actually doing it. I enrolled in postgraduate psychoanalytic training, and never looked back. And through her years of continuing education, training, and clinical and personal experience, Jodi draws on her access to a breadth of modalities, approaches, and unique experience to best serve her clients.
Jodi has lived in the Durham / Chapel Hill area for more than 20 years, but she’s a native New Yorker! She has the soul of the south but the heart of New York City!
